Time Stands Still dramatizes the relationship of a photographer and her freelance journalist boyfriend who return home with physical and emotional wounds from reporting on the Iraq war. What starts out as a process of healing and acclimation to normalcy soon turns into a painful confrontation fuelled by betrayal and guilt.
Over 740 journalists have lost their lives in armed conflicts worldwide since 2000; 2000 more have been imprisoned. Countless others suffer from PTSD, traumatized by their “up close and personal” experiences covering the atrocities of war.
This play poignantly shines a light on the plight of these courageous men and women who put themselves in harm’s way, serving as a sobering reminder that the cost of informing the public can often come with tragic human consequences.
Thanks to the entire production team for helping bring Time Stands Still to the LLT stage. A special thank you to Dave McIntosh for welcoming me to LLT and inviting me to direct the play, and to Win McIntosh who rearranged her plans to stage-manage the production. And to our talented cast – their passion and dedication through the rehearsal process made directing this play a gratifying experience I’ll never forget.
