I’d like to say how passionately I feel about Fiddler on the Roof and the people involved in this project. This is a powerful piece of theatre with music. It is widely produced – and when you work on the show you learn why. I have been privileged to foster the enthusiasm and talent of youth merged with the experience and talent that comes with age. It seldom happens in our community and I feel blessed that I have had the opportunity. We truly have a community show here.
I love and care for each of our participants who have given selflessly to the cause. During the rehearsal process we have created a family with an intense desire to make Fiddler on the Roof work, with a warmth and sincerity that I have seldom experienced over my many years in theatre. I hope we have succeeded (you will be the judge of that) but believe me, if we fall short, it will not be from lack of effort.
The Director does not usually talk about individual cast members as all are essential to the finished product. However, on this occasion I would like to thank and congratulate Patrick for his wonderful work. The close relationship he has with all the cast members while facing the challenge of such a daunting role is remarkable. The cast are truly in awe of his leadership and I know you will love his Tevye. When rehearsals started I announced that he was a nice guy – through all our trials and tribulations nothing has occurred that makes me change my opinion.
Much thanks and appreciation to my colleagues – Ann Swiston, Director of Music, Flemming Halby and Alexis Hoff for Choreography, Judy Hendricks for leading a live band and equally importantly being our rehearsal pianist, and of course my wife Win for running the show. Without these partners and the rest of our incredible crew, I would be lost.
This show is one of the most gratifying and rewarding experiences of my long theatrical career. Thank you LLT.
Shalom Aleichem!
