Everything in the Garden: Director Peggy Lord Chilton
It is always a challenge to direct a ‘dated’ play. Do you leave it in its time frame or do you try to bring it up to date? With this play I decided to keep the time frame ambiguous in that we keep the cigarette coupon bits but bring the cost of things into the present economy. The reason for this that our perception of the importance of money hasn’t changed. We still value the accumulation of it and judge people by how affluent they are. And so perhaps the ending of this play will give food for thought.
